About inSpirit: The UU Book and Gift Shop

Who We Are

Welcome to inSpirit: The UU Book and Gift Shop! The word inspirit is rich in meaning. It can mean to fill with spirit, to encourage, to exhilarate, or to bestow with strength or purpose. We offer books to support people of all faiths and seekers alike to engage with spiritual questions. Unitarian Universalists will find items that will help to nurture their faith, to connect with our history, and to ground and enhance our work for social justice. We also offer cards, a wide range of fair trade gifts, as well as accessories proudly bearing the Unitarian Universalist Association and Side with Love logos. Thank you for visiting us. Please contact us at 800-215-9076 or at bookstore@uua.org if you have any questions.

What to Expect

We welcome visitors to our location within the UUA Headquarters at 24 Farnsworth Street in the Boston Seaport district. Michael, Lyn, and Sophia make up our loyal inSpirit team. You're welcome to stop by and enjoy browsing the latest titles.  Our walk in hours are Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. ET.

Please note that due to our small location, much of our stock is housed in a contracted warehouse in Fitchburg, Massachusetts. Therefore, we have limited quantities of titles available at 24 Farnsworth Street. If you’d like to pick up a specific title, it's wise to email us at least a week in advance, and we'll have the item sent from our warehouse to the headquarters location. This is especially important if you want multiple copies of a title.

Also, we maintain regular office hours, but with a small staff, there can be variations. We may occasionally need to close for lunch, for UUA events or meetings, or due to inclement weather. If you're coming from far away, please contact us in advance, and we'll make every effort to be open and available when you arrive.

Driving

Parking is scarce near the UUA. We recommend you park at the parking garage on Farnsworth St.

Public Transportation

The Boston subway system, called the MBTA, is often the easiest way to visit us. Take the Red Line to South Station, then the Silver Line to Courthouse Station. Farnsworth St. is one block away from the station. For further information on how to get here, get directions from your location via Google Maps.
